My Favorites» Eliane Elias' improvisation on
"So Danco Samba"

This audio quote is from the 3rd track of the album;
"Eliane Elias Sings Jobim (Blue Note, 1998)"

Eliane Elias' improvisation on this song (So Danco Samba)  is so tasty and very warm; as usual.

My Favorites» Romero Lubambo's improvisation on "Manhattan Style"

Romero Lubambo is a great guitarist that I learned him from Trio da Paz. This song (Manhattan Style) is the first track of the compilation album:
"The Colors of Latin Jazz: From Samba to Bomba!
(Concord Records, 2000)"

Romero's ~1 min. improvisation here is extra-ordinary.

My Favorites» Oscar Peterson's improvisation on "Moanin'" (Part.1)

During the jazz history, lots of musicians played/recorded the jazz standard "Moanin'" (composed by Bobby Timmons), but Oscar Peterson's performance here is really notable I think.

The preview below is from the album "Oscar Peterson - Exclusively for My Friends: The Lost Tapes (MPS, 1995)"Oscar Peterson on piano, Sam Jones on bass and Bob Durham on drums; recorded on November 12, 1967. This is a good example which shows great Oscar Peterson's improvisation abilities and uncompareable pianistic powers.

My Favorites» Paul Desmond's improvisation on "Besame Mucho"

This "Besame Mucho" performance is from the 1998 "Bravo! Brubeck! (Columbia)" album of Dave Brubeck. Recorded live in Mexico, 1967; Dave Brubeck (piano) with Paul Desmond (alto saxophone), Eugene Wright (bass), Joe Morello (drums), Salvador "Rabito" Agüeros (bongos & conga drum), and Benjamin "Chamin" Correa (guitar).

For me, Paul Desmond's solo here is like a poem which caresses the soul.

My Favorites» Hank Mobley's improvisation on "Recado Bossa Nova"

Hank Mobley's improvisation on this song is one of my all-time-favorites. A very tasty solo; and also very logical - Mobley was on of the greatest tenorists ever, I believe.

This song (Recado Bossa Nova), is the second track from the album "Hank Mobley-Dippin' (Blue Note)"; Hank Mobley on tenor saxophone, Lee Morgan on trumpet, Harold Mabern Jr. on piano, Larry Ridley on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums - recorded on June 18, 1965.
